300 historical artifacts discovered in Lorestan province
TEHRAN - The Director-General of Cultural Heritage, Tourism, and Handicrafts in Lorestan province has officially unveiled the discovery of 300 ancient artifacts in Delphan city.
According to the Iranian media, reporting from the Public Relations Department of Lorestan's Cultural Heritage, Tourism, and Handicrafts, Ata Hassanpour disclosed that, following a meticulous examination, these artifacts underwent further assessment for age and value.
Delving deeper into the findings, he revealed that expert consultants meticulously examined the artifacts, determining that 167 out of the 300 possess significant cultural and historical authenticity.
Lorestan, which is a region of raw beauty, was inhabited by Iranian Indo-European peoples, including the Medes, c. 1000 BC. Cimmerians and Scythians intermittently ruled the region from about 700 to 625 BC.
Lorestan was incorporated into the growing Achaemenid Empire in about 540 BC and successively was part of the Seleucid, Parthian, and Sassanid dynasties.
